The Founder
Paul O'Reilly
With quite a few decades of experience in the refinishing industry, Paul leads BSS with a vision for enhancing customer savings coupled with introducing innovation to help achieve process optimisation.
Paul started mixing paint in the family business when he was 8 years old.
Believe it or not this was in 1983 and his first paint system was MaxMeyer Bilux Cellulose. We can confidentlly say that MaxMeyer is in his DNA and the brand is still a key part of the business 41 years later.

Our Heritage
Beyond Surface Solutions was formed in 1979 and originally called B.S.Supplies. We started out as a Body Shop Supplies company founded by Michael and Phyllis O’ Reilly and we specialised in replacement car body panels. However, we quickly evolved and expanded to offer refinishing supplies.
After joining the business in 1996, Michael’s son Paul purchased the business in 2001. Driven by the passion for business Paul witnessed in his father, he wanted to create the region’s most successful paint distribution business.
In 2017, Paul restructured the company bringing it to a place where we have national recognition for both our quality products and services.
1983
Our journey with MaxMeyer started in 1983 when we installed our first MaxMeyer mixing system at our original location in Burslem, Stoke on Trent.
When MaxMeyer was acquired by PPG in 1997 we continued to grow our product portfolio and range of PPG coatings.
MaxMeyer is a brand that we hold dear to our hearts.
It has ben amazing to witness how the brand, product range and technologies have evolved over the past 4 decades.
We are excited to be part of the launch of Aquamax Extra .
